Janet Jolliff is a former member of the Rappahannock Hunt Board of Directors and a member of the Virginia State 4-H Show Steering Committee, where she has managed the Virginia State 4-H Hunter Horse Show for ten years. She is a founding member and past District Commissioner of the Old Rag Pony Club.
Janet has been involved in many aspects of the equine business for the past 30 plus years, showing hunters, fox hunting, eventing, operating a boarding stable and working with children and young adults to help them become knowledgeable, well-rounded horsemen and women through various 4-H and Pony Club programs. A native Vermonter, Emma grew up on a rural family farm, where she started riding before she could walk. She is an ardent lover of Thoroughbreds on and off the track, and has worked as an assistant on the racetrack, an exercise rider, and whipper-in for several different hunt clubs in the US and Canada. Emma is now happy to call Northern Virginia home along with her husband, two retrievers, and one accidental goat.

Catherine is a graduate of Mount Ida College and a native Vermonter moving to Northern Virginia in 2016. She grew up riding and showing Morgan Horses on the open circuit and A rated Morgan shows and competing on the equestrian team while in college. Her first homebred Morgan mare was shown successfully in carriage driving throughout New England. Catherine served as treasurer for the Vermont Horse Shows Association for several years, was heavily involved with the Vermont Morgan Horse Association, and was secretary for the Vermont Total Doberman Club.
In addition to horses, Catherine also trains and competes with her Doberman in IPO on the local and national level, including winning the 2017 Doberman National IPO3 Championship, and AKC events.

Christina started riding at the age of 6 and has been pursuing her life’s passion ever since. She spent 11 years as a professional rider and trainer, specializing in hunters and jumpers, and splitting her time between the northeast and Wellington, FL before joining the team at THIS.
Under the tutelage of famed trainer and judge, Ralph Caristo, she was able to define and refine her techniques; focusing her efforts on being an instructor and manager. Stepping out as a professional she produced many riders and horses to the winners circle. One of her greatest joys was helping others reach their full potential in the sport and creating a healthy and safe environment for the horses to flourish.
Christina graduated from St. Andrews Presbyterian College with a B.A. in English and a minor in Politics. She competed on three riding teams: ANRC, IHSA, and A Show Team. She’s an avid travel enthusiast and gourmand.

Born and raised in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, Mandy grew up surrounded by horses. She has been riding since the age of 4 and has worked with almost every kind of horse, from cow ponies to Grand Prix dressage horses and competitive driving teams. Mandy attended Radford University where she competed on the Radford Equestrian Team and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Human Performance with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning. After working in the Medical Fitness and Sports Performance fields for several years, she is happy to be back in the Equine Industry full time. When Mandy is not spending time on the farm, she’s busy taking care of her many pets and plants.

Michael Taylor founded Taylor, Harris Insurance Services in 1987 to specialize in equine insurance. Today Taylor Harris is a prominent sponsor of numerous equine events throughout the United States. Previously, Michael was President of Fasig-Tipton Livestock Underwriters (FTLU), which he joined in 1975 when FTLU was the leading equine insurer in the US. Before coming to the United States, Michael spent six years at Lloyds of London brokering re-insurance business after serving as an Officer in the British Army. Additionally, in 1995 Michael founded Taylor St. Aubyn, now Lumley St. Aubyn, an English-based insurance agency specializing in unique properties.
Colin Devine provides strategic consulting services to the insurance and investment management sectors. In addition, he is an Operating Partner with a venture fund that invests in InsurTech-enabled businesses focused on transforming the insurance underwriting and sales process. Colin is also a Research Fellow for the Alliance for Lifetime Income, a nonprofit 501(c)(6) organization focused on helping educate Americans on the risk of outliving their savings so they can enjoy their retirement. Previously, Colin was a sell-side equity research and ratings analyst for almost twenty years. Smart Money Magazine named him one of the “Last Honest Analysts.”
Colin is a Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Professional Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner. He holds an MBA in Finance from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Guelph.

Nicole is a USDF bronze and silver medalist, 2009 NAJYRC double gold medalist, and seasoned FEI competitor. She was a 2012 participant of the Dressage Foundation’s Olympic Dream Program and 2014 participant in the USDF Graduate Young Rider Program. A recent graduate of the University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business, Nicole concentrated in international business and marketing. In 2012, she made the most of her semester abroad in Madrid riding for the premier PRE breeding facility, Yeguada Susaeta, where she learned more about the breed and how to start young horses.
She has also served two years as Chair of the USDF Youth Executive Committee, four years as Region 1’s USDF youth representative, and has volunteered with Dressage4Kids since 2006. She is an active B dressage certified USPC member and served on the USPC Youth Board for two years.
While she continues to train horses and teach students and work towards her USDF instructor certification, Nicole is also apprenticing with the President of USDF, George Williams.
David Distler is based in Norwalk, Connecticut. He is the FEI’s Honorary Steward General for Show Jumping, and an FEI “O” Judge, which has allowed him to judge 4 World Cup Finals, the 2007 Pan-American Games, and the 2008 Olympic Games. David managed the National Horse Show from 1988 to 1996, and has managed the Devon Horse Show since 1985, the USEF Talent Search Finals since 1986, the Washington International Horse Show since 2008, and is Co-Manager of Show Jumping for the 2010 World Equestrian Games. He is currently Chairman of the USEF Jumper Committee.
Mary Moeller has 35 years of experience in the insurance business with a focus on equine mortality and farm insurance, so she is well equipped to identify and address the needs of her clients. A rider for as many years, Mary has fox hunted, shown and truly loves to be around horses. Mary is also an avid photographer, skier, tennis player and has been known to catch big fish on a fly rod.
Diane Murray has worked in the industry for over 15 years with a background and expertise in the farm underwriting and commercial liability area. Her former employers include Ohio Casualty and Penn Mutual in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Diane is an all around horsewomen known throughout the show, event and foxhunting communities and is a graduate of Lake Erie College.

Barton Hitchcock is a graduate of Radford College with a BA in English. After working for 11 years at the Culpeper Farmers’ Co-op, she became a lumber buyer in the treated wood industry for 18 years.
Foxhunting has always been a passion for Barton, and she currently serves as Treasurer of the Rappahannock Hunt, on the Board of Directors, as well as a Whipper-In. Active in the local community, Barton served for six years on the local Culpeper County School Board.
Haley is based out of her family horse farm in Friendsville, Tennessee when she is not traveling to horse shows along the East Coast. She is a competitive amateur rider with multiple National Grand Prix level victories in show jumping. Haley is also an avid online health and fitness coach who enjoys helping others reach their goals.
Anne Kontos Clancy has over 18 years of experience in the equine insurance industry. She and her husband, Sean, operate Riverdee Stable from their farm in Middleburg, Virginia where they specialize in training thoroughbreds for second careers in showing, eventing and steeplechasing. Anne is a competitor on the “A” show circuit. She formerly worked in the investment business for SG Cowen in New York City and is a graduate of New York University.
As a rider, Marian represented Peru in dressage at the 1983 Pan American Games and the 1984 Olympic Games, having trained in Germany with George Theodorescu and competed in Belgium, Holland, German and Italy. As a judge, she became FEI “C” in 1996 and “I” in 2004. She judges in Europe, Australia, Central and South America, and the Caribbean, as well as Canada and the U.S., judging the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio. She is also licensed by the USEF as a “S” judge. Marian is currently living in Aldie, Virginia.
Based in Blacksburg, Virginia. Lynn’s equine experience started with 18 years of hunt seat training and showing before she transitioned to dressage. She has studied both in the U.S. and Germany and under many well-known trainers such as Gunnar Ostergarrd, Melissa Simms and both late Master Major Hector Carmona and Egon Von Neindorff. Beginning at the training level and moving up to FEI Grand Prix, Lynn has earned USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals. In 2002 she moved from California, where she worked with Debbie McDonald, to southwest Virginia. Lynn competes at the Grand Prix level with self-trained horse Shapiro.
Based in Ocala, Florida. He is the son of Hunter/Jumper Trainer Don Stewart Jr. and brother of trainer Erin Stewart of Heritage Farm in New York. Having grown up in a “horse family,” Don is familiar with the industry. He graduated from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida with a BA in Communication.
As a lifelong resident of Germantown, Tennessee she was the founder and past Chairman of West Tennessee Hunter Jumper Association. She is active in producing six to eight AA rated horse shows a year. As a Registered C1 and C2 Steward for the United States Equestrian Federation, she officiates throughout the United States and Canada. Eleanor is a graduate of Columbia College and the University of Mississippi and served as Vice President and Director of a bank holding company for 18 years.
Allison has a degree in equine management from Southern Sem college in VA, and a psychology degree from University of Memphis. She has worked in the hunter jumper industry as a professional trainer and rider for the past 30 years. She has two daughters, Clay and Carly who both ride and show hunters and jumpers. Allison and her family live in Germantown, Tennessee.
Originally from Massachusetts, Hillary started eventing at an early age. After several years working, training, and competing with top coaches on both East and West coasts, she is happy to call Virginia her home. She enjoys transitioning off track thoroughbreds to new careers, and can often be found training her own young event horse, Tintoretto.

A horse enthusiast based in the Chicagoland area who enjoys all aspects of the horse experience. She has owned and shown many horses over the years and is a regular on the Illinois show circuits. She attended the University of Illinois and has worked in various roles in the financial services industry for over 20 years.
Based in College Station, Texas, where she owns and operates “On the Bit Farm,” instructing riders and training horses for dressage and eventing. With over 20 years of experience, she has worked professionally with horses of all breeds and many disciplines throughout the U.S. and in Germany, and she is an active FEI level dressage competition judge. Many of the younger horses she has trained and competed have won “Horse of the Year’ honors in dressage. A strong advocate of rider education and the well-being of the horse, she continues to volunteer her time with local organizations, work with pony clubs, host and organize clinics and events, and participate in regional and national meetings.
Based in Roscoe, Illinois. He has been associated with Patrick Boyle of Showplace Productions for over 15 years and is largely responsible for the “behind the scenes” success of the Showplace Productions shows in the Midwest. He has also developed an Equestrian Facility & Equipment Company, handling the needs of horse shows in the Midwest as well as individual private facilities.
Based in Austin, Texas, Lynne is a horse enthusiast with over twenty-five years’ experience in the financial services industry, both as an attorney and financial advisor. She helps clients with their overall strategic financial planning and investment management. Lynne, whose daughter is an avid rider, currently competing in hunter/jumper classes in Texas, is excited to bring her experience and vast array of knowledge to the equine insurance industry.

Alice grew up in the Metro Detroit area and showed as a junior and amateur rider on the Michigan Hunter Jumper circuit. Latterly she has been involved in the admin side of horse shows and recently became a ‘R’ Category 1 Steward with the USEF. She is a middle school teacher with Redford Union Public Schools also serving as an athletic coordinator and coach.
Based in Denver, Colorado. A third-generation horseman, she has over 35 years of experience in stable management and training horses. Liza is an “R” rated judge on the “A” circuit and is still actively competing in both the hunter and jumper divisions. She earned a BFA in Technical Theatre Design and graduated with honors, cum laude, from Loretto Heights College.
We are pleased to announce that Al Schlom, one of the most revered equine insurance agents in the United States, recently joined Taylor Harris. A native Californian with a lifelong hobby riding and training horses, Al has a background in equine and personal lines insurance that is unprecedented. A most popular figure at horse shows throughout the nation, it was while teaching his young daughter Candice to ride that he realized the show world presented him with an opportunity to become involved with what he loved, and thereafter became an equine insurance agent. From her start in Southern California, Candice has competed on behalf of the United States Equestrian Team at many international competitions and is regarded worldwide as one of the top rider/trainers in the sport.
Traci Barmen Brooks owns and operates Balmoral Farm Inc. with her husband Carleton. Balmoral has two locations on the west side of Los Angeles and its horses and riders show extensively throughout California, as well as on the east coast at Devon, Indoors, Derby Finals and Pony Finals. Traci grew up in Cleveland, Ohio where she attended Hathaway Brown School and American University in Washington DC. She is a member of the USHJA Zone 10 Hunter Committee and the USHJA National Hunter Derby Task Force.
