Michael Taylor
Founder and President
Michael Taylor founded Taylor, Harris Insurance Services in 1987. Prior to this Michael was President of Fasig-Tipton Livestock Underwriters (FTLU) the leading equine insurer at the time. Before coming to the United States, Michael spent six years at Lloyd’s of London, brokering re-insurance business after serving as an Officer in the British Army. Additionally, in 1995, Michael established Taylor St. Aubyn, now known as Lumley St. Aubyn, an English insurance agency specializing in unique properties.
Janet Jolliff
Office Manager
Janet Jolliff has been with THIS for over 20 years. For more than 3 decades, Janet has been involved in various aspects of the equine business and community, including showing hunters, fox hunting, eventing, operating a boarding stable, and mentoring children and young adults in 4-H and Pony Club programs.
She has served on the Rappahannock Hunt Board of Directors and the Virginia State 4-H Show Steering Committee, managing the Virginia State 4-H Hunter Horse Show for a decade. Janet is a founding member and former District Commissioner of the Old Rag Pony Club. Janet currently lives in Culpeper, Virginia
Colin Devine
Treasurer
Colin Devine is a strategic consultant for the insurance and investment management sectors. He is also an Operating Partner for a venture fund that invests in InsurTech-enabled businesses, focusing on transforming the insurance underwriting and sales process. Colin is a Research Fellow for the Alliance for Lifetime Income, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating Americans about the risk of outliving their savings for a secure retirement. Before this, Colin worked as a sell-side equity research and ratings analyst for almost twenty years. He was recognized by Smart Money Magazine as one of the “Last Honest Analysts.”
Colin is a Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Professional Accountant, and Certified Financial Planner. He has an MBA in Finance from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Guelph.
Luke Taylor
Director of Operations & Strategy
Luke, Michael’s son, has been involved with the business since 2021. Brought in as part of the new leadership team, he’s focused on ensuring the continued success of Taylor Harris; focusing on our business strategy, technological integration of the business stack, and our marketing. Building on over a decade of experience in the Media and Advertising industry first at Ogilvy then at VICE Media, where he led relationships with clients across categories, helping them develop their brand, product and marketing (Select clients: Apple, YouTube, Beats, Logitech, Dove, Cholula, American Express, Blackrock, Bacardi, Johnny Walker, Smirnoff).
Evie Dutton
Director of New Business Development
Evie, wife of 7-time Olympian Phillip Dutton and mother to three daughters, grew up riding in the hunter ring and switched to eventing when she met Phillip. Although she no longer competes, Evie manages the Dutton family equestrian business, which now includes her daughter Olivia. A long-time client of Taylor, Harris Insurance Services, Evie first joined the Taylor, Harris team as a field agent before stepping into her new role. She is also on the Organizing Committee for the Aiken Eventing Grand Prix, sits on the Board of the Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital Foundation, and the Stroud Water Research Center’s Water’s Edge Committee.
